Philanthropist Spotlight: Ashley Young
Name: Ashley Young (she/her)
Hometown: Newberry, SC
How did your philanthropy story get started?
My love for philanthropy began with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. It instilled in me a sense of social responsibility and the importance of giving back. Additionally, I've dedicated numerous hours toward integrating mental health support within our faith-based communities to create a climate of safety and free of stigma.
What does philanthropy mean to you?
Philanthropy is about using one's time, resources, and skill to make a positive difference in this world. It is about giving back to our communities and standing in the gap to empower others and create lasting change. Lastly is a way to express our gratitude for our own blessings.
How can others get involved and give?
Getting involved can look different for everyone: 1) You can donate to the various organizations that we partner with to provide accessible care to our community: Vital Connections of The Midlands, Girl Get up Society, and The Hive. 2)Host wellness events within your organizations.
