Meet The Hive Community Circle- Black Philanthropy Month
Organization Name: The Hive Community Circle
What is your mission?: To provide unwavering support and compassion to the most impacted, yet most underserved survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking in South Carolina.
What are you working on now?: In the last year, The Hive invested $256,994 in support, prevention, and outreach for Black and brown women and girls statewide. We have been able to deepen our Economic Justice programming. Additionally, The Hive has witnessed expansion via organizational capacity, engagement, and the establishment of new statewide and national partnerships/collaborations. We have expanded all services statewide, implemented bilingual and legal advocacy, and individual counseling, and grown the team from one employee to nine. In addition, we have established a formal partnership with the national law firm Nelson & Mullins, to provide statewide pro-bono services such as orders of protection, restraining orders, and pardons.
Our biggest goals for this fiscal year is to hire a Lead Advocate; design and implement mobile-based services through the development of the Mobile Access Point (MAP) Program. The objective is to bring community health and economic-based services to survivors hindered by systemic barriers; and advance economic justice through transitional housing.
How can the community best assist you?: Monetary donations can support our Economic Justice Program and the sustainability of our general operations. In addition, our Volunteer Program is growing and we are always looking for new volunteers. The Hive has hired a new Education and Outreach Manager, who will be in charge of this program and will enhance all opportunities to involve people with The Hive's mission.
